Exploring Bodelwyddan Country Park
The walk begins from the main car park and gently climbs towards the castle. The incline is gradual, making it manageable for most families, though younger children may need some occasional encouragement!
The park was designed with accessibility in mind and includes pram and wheelchair-friendly limestone pathways throughout much of the site. The grassy paths offer children room to explore and run around. The gravel paths are less suitable for scooters, as smaller wheels can struggle on the loose surface.
Although the castle itself isn't open to park visitors, it's still an impressive sight and makes a beautiful backdrop for photos. The orchard area is a great place to stop for a picnic before continuing your walk.
As the park is still relatively new and continuing to establish itself, wildlife sightings can be hit and miss, though new woodland, hedgerows and habitat improvements have been created to encourage more wildlife in the years to come.
Top tip: Bring an extra layer, even on sunny days. The park can become surprisingly windy, particularly on the higher sections of the walk where the views are at their best.
